Chasing Rainbows: How to Catch Your Dream

We all have them, dreams that is! However only a hand full of individuals pursue their dreams. If you are a doer and go-getter, then you know the feeling all to well. You know what it's like to chase rainbows. It's almost like the 'carrot and stick' metaphor. For instance, it's like you keep going after your dream for a reward/destination that seemingly never arrives, yet it's dangling in front of your face.

Every time you move, so does your reward/destination, so does your promised land. You, my friend are chasing rainbows!

The rainbow is symbolic of your dream. It is a significant distance away, beyond reach yet possible, as it should be. What's worth having never comes easy. Along the journey of reaching your rainbow you fail. You are human. Failure is part of life and can be a learning experience if you don't allow it to defeat you. If you reach the rainbow, then, you reach the pot of gold at its end.

I say 'if' because you will have plenty of opportunities to quit and distantly gaze at your rainbow in a 'what could have been attitude'. Don't take any of those opportunities. You will get tired and feel defeated. In that case, rest, take a pit-stop and rejuvenate then begin-again. The desire burns in you because it's your purpose.

One of the main keys to catching your dreams derives in the Creator Himself. Perseverance. God didn't stop creating until he said it was good, He was satisfied with the outcome. It didn't end with light, it ended with the creation of man from which came woman. It comes from Jesus, His persistence in taking every sickness, disease, and sin on the cross. Since, neither of them quit when the going got tough, neither should you. As you journey to catch your dream don't quit.

Do you know who else who persisted and caught their dream?

  • Tyler Perry has told his story countless times of living in his car, writing stage plays that no one would pay to watch, then his breakthrough happened because he didn't quit. Now, he makes million dollar movies and is certainly not homeless!

  • Tiffany Haddish is a comedian, author, and actor. As she was attempting to find her place in stand-up comedy she became homeless, living from her car. Her first big break in comedy was in Bill Bellamy's Who Got Jokes. Her latest endeavors include the movie Girls' Trip, her book The Last Black Unicorn, and a Netflix Special. (Tiffany Haddish)

  • Kevin Hart today is a well known comedian, actor, and now author. However, his start was slow and rough as many didn't think he was funny, but look at him now! (Kevin Hart)

  • Dwanye Johnson (The Rock) has been noted for this quote, "In 1995 I had $7 bucks in my pocket and knew two things: I am broke as hell and one day I won't be. You can achieve anything! " He certainly isn't because he didn't quit. He's been in countless movies he owns a production company named Seven Bucks Productions.

  • Jack Canfield, notable author of Chicken Soup for the Soul was rejected by 130 publishers until he got a Yes! (Legends: Jack Canfield)

The main point I want to make is that catching your dream is inevitable if you persevere. Enjoy your pot of gold at the end of your rainbow. Tell me, what rainbows are you chasing?
